We were in Paris, the decoration capital of the world, in the charming neighborhoods of Saint-Germain-des-Prés, Rue du Mail and Place Saint-Sulpice, for Deco Off: theevent dedicated to textile design during which more than 150 editors open the doors of their ateliers to preview new collections. Immersing oneself in this universe of creativity and stylistic research is a unique experience, allowing us to capture valuable insights to share with you.
An atmosphere of charm and creativity
Our immersion in the effervescent climate of Paris began with breakfast at La Pré aux Clercs, a delicious French pastry shop that looks like something out of a postcard: the inviting scent of coffee and pain au chocolat immediately transported us into the right mood, giving us a taste of typical Parisian elegance.
Walking then among the historic buildings is a thrill in itself: elegant facades, ancient doorways and alleyways that encapsulate the charm of a city rich in history and art. But during these days dedicated to the Paris Deco Off, everything is further transformed. Shop windows are filled with precious fabrics, samples of colors and unprecedented patterns, while details stand out in a riot of eye-catching hues. It’s like getting lost in an open-air museum, where every corner gives away a fragment of creativity.
The streets themselves are adorned with large fabric lampshades, which hang from lampposts creating a fairy-tale atmosphere. At every step, one encounters installations created by publishers: arches of multicolored fabrics, mannequins covered in bold prints, or real works of textile art that tell fascinating stories. One is guided by curiosity and enters the ateliers to discover new settings, touch materials and breathe in the contagious energy of an event that celebrates beauty in all its forms.

Rubelli, for example, has proposed superior fire retardant wools, perfect for upholstered furniture that combines aesthetics and functionality.

If we had to identify a common thread in this edition, it would be velvet: declined in variants capable of satisfying every need, it is the great protagonist of the new textile collections. Geometric patterns, graphic decorations abound, and the timeless charm of stripes and barretes is also finally making a comeback.
